MY CRITZ
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOODD!! WORTTHHH SEEINGGGG!!!!
I don’t usually say this about Indonesian movie, but this one is on top of my must-see movie chart.
Unlike any Indonesian movies made nowadays, this movie has a lot of depth. The storyline is unpredictable and the suspense keeps me wanting to see more. It reminds me a bit of John Cusack’s movie Identity, with a dash more of twisted personality.
The suspense, kept me at the edge of my seat. When I thought that one thing would happen, the director (Joko Anwar) spins the whole thing to another direction. This movie took me on a journey of emotions; pity, scared, happy, and sad. There was a part where I felt sorry for Gambir (Fachry Albar), but that sorry turned into me wanting to slap him and say “you’re a man damn it!” I was really immersed into Gambir’s character and mind, that I came out of the movie feeling blessed that I’m still a girly-girl.
I realized that all the random imageries shown on the screen are there for a purpose, to show us how Gambir’s mind works. How his imagination and reality are intertwined, basically he's a handsome man with a broken brain. Awww too bad ;(
Aside from great editing (need to tweak it a bit to perfection), this movie truly shows the schizophrenic male character that is sexually depressed with multiple personality caused my child-abuse.
Yes, it sounds very weird for me to like this movie, but I really do. I enjoy it immensely. I must warn you though, if you don’t like bloody or gory stuff, bring your best eye-mask with you for the last 2 minutes. Otherwise, go rent it now!!!
