HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Vadim Perelman

YEAR RELEASED
2003

PLOT OUTLINE

An abandoned wife is evicted from her house and starts a tragic conflict with her home's new owners.

MY CRITZ
A well made and most depressing movie ever. No wonder it was nominated for the oscar. After watching this, I felt like I needed to see something... hmmm... happy. I hated Lester, a character played by Ron Eldard, he's so ignorant; a pure depiction of how a man sometimes think with their penis instead of their brain. As far as Kathy (Jennifer Connelly), she's just simply a mess. After loosing her father, battling alcoholism and her husband left her, the only thing she has left in her life is the house. But then it got taken away from her too. And now, all she wants is to get her house back, but she can't because Behrani (Ben Kingsley) has already bought it from the county's foreclosure auction. Which happened to be a mistake on the county's part. This movie is definitely a beautiful tragedy. The twist at the end is very clever, I didn't see it coming. Watch it, and you'll see how sometimes the so-called American Dreams is really only a dream.

THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Bill Paxton

YEAR RELEASED
2005

PLOT OUTLINE

A golf drama based on the true story of the 1913 US Open, where 20-year-old Francis Ouimet defeated his idol, 1900 US Open champion, Englishman, Harry Vardon.

MY CRITZ
Ok, so I'm a girly girl who loves chick flick, who hates sports, and loves drama. I'm thinking in my head "who in their right mind would want to make a movie about golf???!!" AND "who would wanna see it??!!". Well, thanks to haceem who forced me to watch the damn thing, it's not that bad. In fact, it's pretty good. Unlike any biopic, that tends to have lenghty explanation on what, why and how, the pace of the storytelling is perfect. The cinematography is stunning. I louuuuveee the Eddie's character in this movie. A 5th grader who offered himself to be Francis's caddy even though his height is as tall as the golf bag itself. He's the cutest lil' kid ever, and so wise for a 5th grader.
