WE ARE MARSHALL

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

McG

YEAR RELEASED
2006

PLOT OUTLINE

When a plane crash claims the lives of members of the Marshall University football team and some of its fans, the team's new coach (McConaughey) and his surviving players try to keep the football program alive.

MY CRITZ
Seriously... if you're not interested in movies about football, for the love of God... save your money and don't see this one!!!!! I saw Matt Mcconaughey on Oprah promoting this movie and he was screaming "we are marshall!!" to the audience... and they chanted along with him... My thought, have they seen the movie??!!!! I thought that the reason they made this movie is because Marshall University has a great run with winning football and famous and what nots, but apparently they just win a few times in the 70s (jeez that's like 30 years ago!!) and are notorious only because all the football players died during the plane crash. That's all... nothing great, except the struggle they had to overcome in order to build a new football team. It's just too much testosterone for my taste really. Yes I did cry a few times, but I wouldn't want to see it if I had to pay for the tix, thank Godness it was "free":)

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Shawn Levy

YEAR RELEASED
2006

PLOT OUTLINE

A newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.

MY CRITZ
Sooooo soooooooo hillarious!!! I love how 1/2 of the audience in the theater are below the age of 10. I was sitting in front of a 5 year old that kept asking his mom questions and commenting through out the movie, as if he's in his own living room. Funny enough, I didn't mind at all. It reminds me of the movie from the 80s, Mannequin, but for kids. It's sooooo funny!!! Made me want to go visit the Museum. You seriously have to see it and let the kid inside of you enjoy it.

ROCKY BALBOA

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Sylvester Stallone

YEAR RELEASED
2006

PLOT OUTLINE

Rocky Balboa comes out of retirement to step into the ring for the last time and face the heavyweight champ Mason 'The Line' Dixon.

MY CRITZ
I'm not a big fan of Sly, never seen the last 5 Rocky movies and don't care enough about guys punching each other to get some sort of medal. But I must say, this one is great. Aside from not knowing the history of Rocky, his character shine through in this one. I cried on several scenes (as usual). I'm a chick-flick kindda gal, so me liking this one, says enough about the movie.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Gabriele Muccino

YEAR RELEASED
2006

PLOT OUTLINE

A struggling salesman (Will Smith) takes custody of his son (Jaden Smith) as he's poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor.

MY CRITZ
A MUST SEE!!! I walked out of this movie feeling like I need to better my life. Seriously, I feel like I want to stand outside on Madison Ave., and beg for a job. This movie is based on life story of Chris Gardner and Will played the role so well. There's one scene in the movie that reminds me of "My Life Is Beautiful", it's when they were inside the Bart station and pretend to live in a cave, where in reality it was a filthy public restroom. I cried so much, it's not even funny. It's heart warming, made me want to call my dad and tell him how much I love him and to thank him for sending me $ monthly for my survival in this world. Love you dad!!! You must, must, must see this movie!!!!!!

BLOOD DIAMOND

MY RATING

DIRECTED BY

Edward Zwick

YEAR RELEASED
2006

PLOT OUTLINE

A farmer, a smuggler, and a syndicate of businessmen match wits over the possession of a priceless diamond.

MY CRITZ
Ohhhh SOOO GOOD!!! Besides the fact that Leo is WHOOOTT, the movie is very, very, GOOD!! Almost makes me think twice about buying diamonds for a moment. There are scenes in which I had teary eyes. The dynamic between Leo and Djimon is so good that I got sucked into each of their characters. Leo's acting is sooo gooodddd that I believe he's a real smuggler. Oh no, not my Leo!! There are some bloddy, gorry details, but I got over it, so no biggie. You MUST see it now, while it's still in the theater. It's that good!!!! Especially hearing Leo in that South African accent... pheewwww...
